I call them my little Dalmatian's.
Ermine Ameraucana, the fun new project almost APA approved breed! What does that man, in a nut shell you are going to find lots of people selling these eggs, but please do your research. Breeding Ermines are actually pretty challenging and isn't like breeding BBS. In the BBS (Blue Black Splash) you can breed splash to splash and get 100% splash and that is NOT the case with Ermines.
With my eggs you have a chance of hatching all 3 colors, Ermine (the black & white pattern), Black and Dominate white. I will have an option soon to offer 100% Ermine patterned! Please note, the Dominate white is NOT to be confused with the standard White recessive gene Ameraucana. Your Dominate whites will have pinkish legs, very different than what is SOP for the White Ameraucana.
About the Ermine Ameraucana project
The color genetics behind this beautiful coloration are based on Dominant White - a unique genetic twist that breeds differently than all but one other variety of APA/ABA approved poultry.
While others have developed similar lines of Ermine Ameraucanas, most breeders today work with lines that were developed by Becky Pelton of Dusty Bugs Poultry. Pelton created her line over 14 years using careful selection and bringing her birds as close to the American Poultry Association's Standard of Perfection as she could. Pelton's line is unmatched in quality or correctness.
Pelton has submitted a proposed Standard for the Ermine Ameraucana variety and has started the process of American Poultry Association acceptance. The beautiful Ermine Ameraucanas are becoming a more common sight at APA recognized shows.
