🧬 Recessive White DNA Test

Determine whether your bird carries the recessive white gene (c/c) responsible for producing pure white plumage. This DNA test identifies if your chicken is homozygous (two copies), heterozygous (one copy), or does not carry the gene at all.

• Understanding this gene helps breeders make smarter pairing choices—especially when working with color projects where recessive white can mask true plumage color 

⚠️ Note: This is not the same as a Dominant White test. Dominant White testing is currently under development and will be released separately when available.

• ONE sample needed even if you order both Gender,  Blue gene and/or Rec. White test done, just be sure to mark that on the sample collection card
• My recommended testing supplies but not mandatory. 
  • Alcohol Wipes
  • Nail Clippers 
  • Rubber Bands
  • Blood Clotting Powder
  • PCR Tubes  0.2ml NOT mandatory, but my preferred way to collect blood
• FEATHER SAMPLES may be easier if the bird is older than 3 months

Why test for Recessive White?

• Know what’s hidden – Recessive white can mask color varieties like black, blue, or splash, making visual identification impossible.
• Plan breeding projects – Identify carriers (C/c) versus expressed (c/c) birds to predict offspring color outcomes.
• Develop or eliminate white lines – Breed intentionally for or away from recessive white depending on your project goals.
