đ©” DNA Blue Gene Test
Does your bird carry the blue eggshell gene (O)?
This test identifies whether your chicken carries one or two copies of the O (oocyan) gene, responsible for blue eggshells. Knowing your birdâs genetic status helps you plan breeding projects, especially for Olive Eggers, Easter Eggers, and Ameraucana-based crosses.
- Click here to Download Sample Collection Card
- ONE sample needed even if you order both Gender and Blue gene test done, just be sure to mark that on the sample collection card
- My recommended testing supplies but not mandatory.Â
- Alcohol Wipes
- Nail ClippersÂ
- Rubber Bands
- Blood Clotting Powder
- PCR Tubes 0.2ml NOT mandatory, but my preferred way to collect blood
- FEATHER SAMPLES may be easier if its a bird over 3 months old, see video below on how to collect
Why test?
- Predict egg color outcomes before breeding
- Confirm purebred Ameraucana or cross-project genetics
- Track O/O, O/oâș, or oâș/oâș results for record keeping
Take the guesswork out of your green eggers and bring science into your breeding pen.

Great service. Wonderful communication.
Love being able to know what roos to keep and who to move on. This saves so much time! Well worth it.
Communication is amazing! Testing was fast and I wonât look anywhere else! She is amazing in every way!
The overall experience was positive from start to finish, but Shannonâs communication with me was by far the most exceptional part. Thank you so much!
The post office was their usual slow snail mail, but the testing was done quickly and I received the results quickly via email. Great to know who to use for my breeding program. Thanks!!
