How It Works
1. Order your test — Purchase one test for each bird being tested.
2. Collect your sample —For chicks and young birds, a small blood sample is preferred. Eggshell membrane may also be submitted for newly hatched chicks, as long as the shells were kept completely separate at hatch. Feather samples are also accepted from older birds.
3. Mail your sample — Clearly label each sample and send it to FPC Lab with your submission information.
4. Get your results — Results are emailed directly to you, typically within 24 hours of sample receipt.
Ordering more than one test for the same bird? You only need to submit one sample. Just make sure all requested tests are clearly marked on your submission.

Sample Collection

For a blood sample, collect a small drop of blood from a clipped toenail. You can use:
• Our downloadable Sample Collection Card — print at home and allow the blood to dry completely before mailing.
• A clean coffee filter — a simple alternative if you don't have the printed card handy.
• PCR tubes — another great option and one I personally like to use.
Please do not use thick cardboard or perfume/fragrance test strips.
Optional Supplies I Use & Recommend
These are not required to submit a sample, but they're supplies I personally use:
• Alcohol Wipes
• Nail Clippers
• Rubber Bands
• Blood Clotting Powder
• PCR Tubes — 0.2 mL
