  Welsummers are an exceptionally fun and friendly breed, with each hen producing unique eggs that are always a surprise. No two Welsummer eggs are ever the same, and their speckles make every egg a work of art. While we're still perfecting the speckling in our flock, we're dedicated to working exclusively with fun, distinctive speckles.

  Fun Fact: Did you know that the famous Kellogg's Corn Flake rooster, "Cornelius," is a Welsummer?

  A few things to know about Welsummer pullets: when they first start laying, their speckles may be small and tight. Be patient as the speckles evolve over the next few months. These pullets take time to find their "ink cartridge," and every egg they lay will be a little different! Please note that speckles are not guaranteed.

  Egg production is much better than the Black Copper Marans (BCM), with Welsummers laying large, beautiful terracotta brown eggs with charming speckles.

  An exciting trait of the Welsummer breed is that they are sexable at hatch! The female will have a darker, more clearly defined triangle on her head and a dark line extending from her eye towards her ear, while the male's features will appear lighter and blurrier. However, it can be tricky to tell the sexes at hatch, so I don't sell just females at this time. Some breeders are great at sexing Welsummers, but I'm still perfecting my skills in this area.
